I took the day off from work yesterday.
I went over to sand on the Bus. Still sanding.
Actually I enjoy sanding. I think of it as a book title- Zen, and the art of Bus sanding.
Sanding is mindless work, requires physical activity- but really requires very little brain power.
You sand to remove old material.. in order to apply new material.
You concentrate on sanding and everything else falls away- a Zen like state is obtained and in the end, you are one step closer. To driving your bus.
Back to Bus people- I was going to sand on the bus- but decided to wash and vacuum my car.
It was Amy's idea and it was a good one. ( She was going to do her van and my car was in the line of fire anyway.) I was starting to vacuum and Amy's neighbor came over and handed me a 1969 VW Bus owners manual.
He told me about his bus and when he sold it in the 70's. He thought I might like the manual. He was right. It's VW treasure. He's had that manual since 1969.
I was born in 1970.
Bus people are unique-to hold on to that manual for 37 years is something most people don't do. I've had my car since 2002 and I can't find mine.
I really enjoy the manual, its in good shape and it
helps me to figure out what- does what.
Here's the fuse box and light bulb requirements.
Both of these are large and may be Really helpful..
These pictures are large- you can click on them and the larger size might be useful.
Even if your model year is different, they are common aspects between all the buses.
This one is larger.
VW Bus adventures! My 1977 VW Bus, needs restoration. Here's what was done so far.....

Smithfield Slamming BBQ festival and cookoff
On Sat. my kids and I went to the BBQ festival and worked a little bit with Poor Richard's BBQ.
This was their first foray into the BBQ festival experience and overall, after a rocky start, things went well. I think the weather on Friday threw them for a loop and hence the rocky start.
This was also the 1st annual Smithfield Slamming BBQ festival and I'm pretty sure it will happen again next year. I'll post some pictures of the event later on. It should be noted that Poor Richards BBQ which is located in Portsmouth VA. -Makes the best pulled pork BBQ. and that's no lie.
You should check out their site- especially if you are local to the Tidewater area. They deliver and are local. There were people coming over and complimenting the BBQ's unique flavor and taste. Good Stuff. I'll post more details later as well.
